A.S.D. was the most under rated band of Dallas. Joe Jarvis, the lead singer of the band, was one of my favorite customers at the store. He would come in and select records that were ranked in my book as awesome. He not only loved the new stuff, but also had the knowledge and love for the bands that led the way for the new bands.
When Joe brought in the tape for his band, I was more than pleased; I was ready to put out a record with them, and then a second. Twice as Nice. These guys needed to be heard. I paired this relatively unknown band with 2 other releases from bands that would expose them to a wider audience. I tried to release 3 records at a time - somehow felt this was a good number. Once the record was out, the radio stations noticed and this great band was HEARD. These guys were so hard working. They constantly had gigs, and for those that saw them immediately became fans, and came out of the shows with the same awe that I had for the band. Mexican Sundial Blues is my fave, and seeing these guys perform live, drove the arrow through my heart ... love. Also, see Moodswings release, this was a second band which Joe Jarvis spearheaded. |
