I stumbled onto Chain Link Fence when a customer in the store, who was in town from Seattle, coaxed me over to 'beer haven' Bar of Soap. Side bar here, the one eyed Seattle "dude" was in a band, which I’ve forgotten - who found his own band's record in the store, making us immediate friends. When "dude" and I walked into the bar, how can I describe it … the singer reminded me of Joe Cocker, the bass was jazzed mixed with thump, and dripping on top was this syrupy melodramatic guitar line, all held together with the anchor of drum beats. It worked. I loved these guys.
With Direct Hit Records barely off the ground, I edged in after their set and told the story of my label plans. We immediately paired, bonding on our music vision. These talented guys layed sound tracks and with the solicitation of some of the top 'underground' artists, the project was solid. This record was the whole package.
